ALP Annual Meeting

| |
Linda J. Kelly, President of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, will be the featured speaker at ALP’s 22nd annual meeting on June 5, 2012, in the main dining room at Seabury. Linda will provide an overview of the Foundation’s mission and role in the Greater Hartford community and discuss its new five-year strategic plan, Accelerate Success, designed to help close the achievement gap and prepare adults for the workforce. In October 2005, Linda Kelly was named president of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region. She also serves as vice chair of the national Council on Foundations’ Ethics and Practices Committee, chair of the Connecticut Network of Community Foundations, and a member of the board of directors of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy. Previously, Ms. Kelly served as a Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, as Deputy Commissioner of Banking and as a member of the Public Defender Services Commission. She spent many years in the banking industry, including as senior vice president and general counsel of Shawmut Bank Connecticut and assistant secretary and regulatory counsel of its corporate holding company, Shawmut National Corporation. A native of North Carolina, Ms. Kelly received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Active in her community, Ms. Kelly has spent decades serving a variety of nonprofit and civic organizations in the Greater Hartford area, often in a leadership position.
The meeting will also feature the luncheon; recognition of poetry contest winners and outgoing officers and board members; and the business meeting, with election of officers and board members for 2012-2013.
PARKING AT THE ANNUAL MEETING Because there will not be enough parking places at Seabury to accommodate all the attendees at the Annual Meeting, we must all park at the Beth Hillel Synagogue. This parking lot is next to Seabury, just west on Wintonbury Avenue. The synagogue has asked us to park behind the building, so as to leave space available in front of the building for people taking part in activities there. A shuttle to Seabury will be available beginning at 11:45 am. The Seabury shuttle will return you to the synagogue lot following the meeting. This is the same arrangement that has worked so well for the past several meetings. NO PARKING WILL BE AVAILABLE AT SEABURY FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS YOU HAVE A HANDICAPPED PERMIT
